Life Lessons

Mom won't let me go, so I'm sneaking out. You know that's what being a kid is about. There's a guy at school I know, he's so cute, his name is Joe. Always wears the latest trends says we are the best of friends. Asked to go to prom with him, but he said he's going with Tim. You can't always get what you want. Life lessons are all the same, all the way you play the game, you just gotta figure it out. 

Hey, we're gonna figure out what this is all about, because we're all the same, and hey, we're gonna be okay. We're gonna find a way for us to find ourselves tonight. That's right. 

I don't have pretty hair, got no fancy clothes to wear, I'm just not a popular girl. And when I go to school nobody thinks that I'm cool, but my friends are better than yours. We can dance and sing along, get rich off a stupid song, now those kids are jealous of us. 

Mom won't let me go, so I'm sneaking out. You know that's what being a kid is about. Later when I'm sneaking in, grounded for a week again. In my room the whole week long...just more time to write a song!
